News has emerged that an American Airlines flight from Miami veered off the runway at Kingston, Jamaica last night (June 6).
Information is limited surrounding the incident, but here is what we know so far…

American Airlines Flight AA850 – Miami to Kingston…
American Airlines flight AA850 is a routine scheduled flight between Miami and Kingston in Jamaica.
The aircraft involved in this particular incident is registered as N879NN.
As per data from Planespotters.net, N879NN is a 12.6 year old Boeing 737-800 that was delivered to the airline in November 2011.
Furthermore, of the 737-800 variant, American Airlines has 303 of them.
Of that 303, all but 15 are in active service, with an average fleet age of 14.6 years.
American Airlines flight AA850 departed Miami at 1932 local time yesterday evening and proceeded to Kingston.
As per The Jamaica Gleaner, it is understood that the passengers experienced a “rough” and “scary” landing.
From there, it is understood that the aircraft veered off the runway, damaging it’s engines, as well as landing lights and other components.
There is limited information on whether there were any injuries onboard the aircraft.
AviationSource has approached American Airlines for comment regarding the incident on AA850 Miami-Kingston.

Data from RadarBox states that N879NN, the American Airlines Boeing 737-800 is still in Kingston at the time of writing.
By the looks of it, there is enough damage to keep the aircraft grounded for some time whilst repairs are made.
Furthermore, from the images you see above, you can see the aftermath of what happened when it veered off the runway.

The Airline Releases Statement…
American Airlines responded to AviationSource’s query on the incident and they said the following:
“American Airlines flight 850 with service from Miami (MIA) to Kingston, Jamaica (KIN) briefly exited the runway after landing.”
“The aircraft taxied to the gate under its own power and customers deplaned normally.”
“Safety is our top priority, and we apologize to our customers for their experience.”
The airline also confirmed there were no injuries reported.
