In the last few hours, a British Airways Airbus A350-1000 from Denver declared an emergency over UK airspace towards it’s destination of London Heathrow.

British Airways flight BA218 is a routine scheduled flight between Denver and London Heathrow, with the affected rotation being operated by G-XWBG.
As per data from Planespotters.net, G-XWBG is a 3.4 year old Airbus A350-1000 that was delivered to the carrier back in October 2020.
Of the A350-1000 variant, the Heathrow-based carrier has 17 of them in the fleet, of which all of them are in active service, hosting an average fleet age of 2.5 years.
British Airways flight BA218 departed Denver at 1741 local time last night and proceeded eastbound in the direction of London Heathrow.
All was smooth and operating fine until the crew onboard declared an emergency via the 7700 squawk code over the Isle of Man.
At this time, we do not know the cause of the emergency, but the 7700 squawk code wasn’t broadcasted for long, before switching over to 7657 around 10 minutes after, hinting that the emergency was under control.
BA218 from Denver landed into London Heathrow safely and without incident at 0857 local time this morning.
As soon as we find out what the cause of the emergency was, then we will update this article accordingly. But for now, this remains a developing story until we can ascertain the facts.
