Ibom Air Gets Financing Over The Line for Airbus A220 Aircraft

Nigerian carrier Ibom Air has secured the financing it needs for it’s inaugural Airbus A220 aircraft, which was delivered in November 2023.

It is understood this transaction was closed by Zenith Bank, who worked alongside the airline and the manufacturer to facilitate this.

Ebenezer Onyeagwu, the bank’s group managing director said the following to Business Day:

“This landmark agreement solidifies our commitment to supporting regional carriers and advancing the landscape of African aviation financing.”

George Uriesi, Ibom Air’s Chief Operating Officer added to this saying the following:

“Aircraft financing is a collaborative effort, and the support of regional banks is pivotal.”

“This synergy fosters a sustainable aviation ecosystem, allowing us to soar higher and drive positive socio-economic impact in Nigeria and the broader continent.”

“Nigeria is widely recognised as the African market with the highest growth potential, and we aim to be at the forefront of that growth.”

All eyes will be on how operations will go with the Airbus A220 for Ibom Air moving forward.
