In the early hours of this morning, a Jet2 flight from Fuerteventura made an emergency landing at Manchester Airport.
Information is limited surrounding this incident, but below is what we know on this so far.

Jet2 Flight LS998 – Fuerteventura to Manchester Airport…
Jet2 flight LS998, which made an emergency landing, is a routine scheduled flight between Fuerteventura & Manchester.
The aircraft involved in the incident is G-LSAE.
As per data from Planespotters.net, G-LSAE is a 36.4 year old Boeing 757-200 that started out life with Air Holland in March 1988.
Air Holland leased the aircraft to Sterling Airways, Icelandair, Dinar Lineas Aereas, Spanair & Air Gabon between 1989 and 2002.
In July 2004, the aircraft was handed over to Air Slovakia, before joining it’s current airline in September 2006.
Of the 757-200 variant, the airline has six of them left and have an average fleet age of 32.8 years.
On top of this, Jet2 also has the following aircraft in their fleet:
- 13 Airbus A321 Family aircraft.
- 2 Airbus A330s.
- 105 Boeing 737 Family aircraft.
Jet2 flight LS998 departed Fuerteventura at 2315 local time last night and tracked north to Manchester Airport.
Off the coast of Ireland, the aircraft started descending, which was the point that the emergency declaration was made.
At 0320 local time, the aircraft landed safely into the airport, with a delay of over two hours.
Aircraft Re-Entered Service Five Hours Later…
Data from RadarBox shows that the aircraft re-entered commercial service around five hours after the emergency landing into Manchester.
G-LSAE ended up operating the LS825 service to Ibiza, and is expected to operate the following services today:
- LS826 back to Manchester Airport.
- LS995 to Las Palmas.
- LS996 back to MAN.
If it was a technical issue, it would have been fixed in that five hour gap by engineers at the airport.
Reason Unclear At This Time…
Overall, the reason for the emergency is unclear, with no further information released.
