National Airlines Adds First A330-300

Last week, U.S. ACMI operator, National Airlines (N8), took delivery of its first Airbus A330-300 from Stratos.

This article will cover the details surrounding National Airlines’ latest fleet addition. Also, comments from the carrier’s senior members of staff.

National Airlines’ First A330-300

According to Planespotters, National Airlines took delivery of its first Airbus A330-300 on May 28, 2024.

The Airbus A330-300 MSN13478 was sold to the U.S. operator from aircraft investment specialist Stratos. The aircraft will be registered as N873CA.

MSN1348 was previously operated by Thai Airways as HS-TBE. It has been sat around in storage since March 2020, over four years. The aircraft is nearly 12 years old being an August 2012 build.

During its time in storage, N873CA has undergone an extensive MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) project

This new addition to National’s fleet will bring their total aircraft count to 12. This includes one Airbus A330-200, nine Boeing 747-400s, and one Boeing 757-200.


Firstly, commenting on their sale with National Airlines, Stratos’ Marketing Director, Cian O Shea, says, “We are delighted to have worked with and delivered this aircraft to National Airlines as a new customer of Stratos.”

“It is a culmination of the excellent work between our commercial and technical teams under challenging conditions.”

Secondly, adding to O Shea’s comments, National Airlines’ Chairman, Christopher Alf, “As part of our recent fleet modernization and expansion plan, we are delighted to welcome another Airbus 330 aircraft into our fleet this week.”

The latest aircraft addition is an encouraging response to the increase in our customer charter requests and we wish to continue providing the highest standards of performance and service to sports teams, bands cruise lines, organizations, and military.”
