The All India Students’ Union (AISU) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), urging the rescheduling of the NEET MDS exam.
The NMC (National Medical Commission) had stipulated the internship cut-off date for the National Eligibility Entrance Test – Postgraduate (NEET PG) as August 15, while the last date for NEET MDS stands at March 31. The registration deadline for NEET MDS 2024 was February 19.
In 2023, the Telangana High Court disposed of a writ petition seeking the rescheduling of NEET MDS 2023, emphasizing the need for a uniform cut-off date for candidates who have completed the MBBS/BDS course across the country, ensuring adequate preparation time for NEET.
Several candidates have expressed discontent with the decision to postpone the NEET PG 2024 exam from March 3 to July 7, perceiving it as discriminatory, particularly when compared to the NEET MDS exam. Advocating for fairness, candidates argue that past NEET MDS exams have been held simultaneously with NEET PG, underscoring the need to synchronize schedules to allow for ample preparation time.
