PIA flight PK797 is a routine scheduled flight between Lahore and Toronto.

The aircraft involved in the emergency diversion to Bodo is AP-BGY.

As per data from Planespotters.net, AP-BGY is a 19.1 year old Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.

It was delivered to PIA back in February 2006, and was one of the testbeds for Boeing at the time.

Furthermore, of the 777-200 variant, the airline has eight of them in the fleet, of which seven are in active service.

Average fleet age for the variant is at 19.1 years.

PIA flight PK797 departed Lahore at 1725 local time this afternoon and initially proceeded to Toronto.

After tracking far north and out of radar coverage, the aircraft re-entered said coverage heading directly south.

Shortly after that, the aircraft started descending, with the diversion field of Bodo chosen for this emergency.

It is understood that PK797 between Lahore and Toronto landed safely without incident into Bodo.

@FlightEmergency on X confirmed that the reason for the diversion was due to a medical emergency onboard.

Furthermore, it can be assumed that the PIA aircraft, which originally came from Lahore, will continue on to Toronto from Bodo tonight.

This depends on whether the crew has the hours needed to make that hop across the Atlantic from Bodo.

There are no specifics regarding the condition of the affected passengers, with this not being disclosed at any time by AviationSource.

But for now, all eyes will be on when it departs Bodo to continue on to Toronto.
