Southwest Airlines Flight Baltimore-Boston Declares Emergency

In the last 30 minutes, a Southwest Airlines flight from Baltimore declared an emergency whilst on descent into Boston.

Information is limited surrounding this incident, as we will get into in this piece.

Emergency: Southwest Airlines Flight WN5887 – Baltimore to Boston…

In the last few moments, a Southwest Airlines flight from Baltimore declared an emergency whilst on descent into Boston.

Southwest Airlines flight WN5887, which declared an emergency, is a routine scheduled flight between Baltimore and Boston.

The aircraft involved in the emergency is N405WN.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N405WN is a 23.0 year old Boeing 737-700 that was delivered to the airline in June 2001.

Of the 737-700 variant, Southwest Airlines has 379 of them in the fleet.

Furthermore, of that 379, all but 14 are in active service, with an average fleet age of 18.7 years.

WN5887 departed Baltimore at 1409 local time and headed north-east to Boston.

During it’s descent, the crew declared an emergency via the 7700 squawk code.

From there, the aircraft was able to make a safe landing into Boston at 1515 local time.

At this stage, it is unclear what the cause of the emergency is onboard Southwest Airlines flight WN5887 Baltimore-Boston.

Furthermore, information will no doubt come out in the hours ahead regarding the cause.
