818 IIT Kanpur students get 891 full-time offers at end of Day 8 in ongoing first phase of placements

A total of 891 full-time offers, including pre-placement offers (PPOs), were made to 818 students at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, at the close of Day 8 of the ongoing final placements for the Class of 2024, the institute said in a statement on Monday.

In comparison, 918 students of the Class of 2023 had secured jobs through campus placements and PPOs at the end of Day 5 last year. The figure included 207 students who had bagged PPOs.

With engineering institutes, including IITs, staring at a particularly tough placement season this year, Microsoft, Fujitsu, Samsung, Reliance, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Deutsche Bank, Tata Projects, Navi, Uniorbit, ICICI Bank, EXL, NPCL, Intel, and TSMC were among companies were took part in the placement season at IIT Kanpur this year.

A total of 21 students from the institute received international job offers.

Final placements at IIT Kanpur – along with the other old IITs at Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Guwahati and Varanasi (BHU) – began on December 1.

ET had reported on Friday that final placements at several IITs are showing a 15-30% decline in job offers by the end of the first week.
