British Airways Flight to Aberdeen Diverts to Edinburgh

In the second Scotland-related diversion of the day from British Airways, BA1314 bound for Aberdeen has diverted to Edinburgh, with the reason unknown.

British Airways flight BA1314 is a routine scheduled flight between London Heathrow and Aberdeen, with the affected rotation diverting to Edinburgh being operated by G-TTNU.

As per data from, G-TTNU is a 0.7 year old Airbus A320neo that was delivered to the carrier back in April 2023.

Of the Airbus A320neo variant, the UK carrier has 20 of them at the time of writing, of which 19 are in active service and one is currently parked.

The A320neos have an average fleet age of 3.8 years currently.

British Airways flight BA1314 departed London Heathrow at 1744 local time and proceeded northbound in the direction of Aberdeen.

As G-TTNU was approaching the Scottish destination, the aircraft entered a series of holds, with no attempts made to land into the airport.

From there, the decision was made to divert to Edinburgh, where it landed safely not long after.

At this stage, it is unclear what the reason for this diversion was, but there is no scheduled departure time at the time of writing for the aircraft to continue to Aberdeen.

What we do know is that weather can be ruled out, with the current conditions being optimal at the Scottish destination.

This is the second British Airways related diversion in the country today, with the first being an aircraft diverting to Aberdeen when the original destination was Inverness.
