IIT Kharagpur, IIT (BHU) together bag close to 1240 offers, including PPOs, by end of Day 1 of final placements

BENGALURU: IIT Kharagpur bagged more than 700 offers, including pre-placement offers (PPOs) at the end of the first day of the final placement drive, while IIT-BHU had 537 offers, including PPOs.

More than 61 companies made offers at IIT Kharagpur for software, analytics, finance–banking, consulting and core engineering roles. Apple, Arthur D.Little, Da Vinci, Capital One, DE Shaw, EXL Services, Glean, Google, Graviton, Microsoft, McKinney, Quantbox, Databricks, Square point and TSM, Palo Alto were among the companies that participated in the campus placements.

Students received more than 19 overseas offers, with six students being offered Rs 1 crore-plus packages on the first day of the placement drive, IIT Kharagpur said in a statement.

Companies are conducting the interviews in hybrid mode, with a significant number of companies present physically as well.

“Reaching out to many new companies with a proper strategy has played a very crucial role in defeating the lean period of the market,” said Prof. Rajib Maity, chairperson of Career Development Centre (CDC), IIT Kharagpur.

At IIT-BHU, Wells Fargo, Thoughtspot, Plutus Research, Cohesity, Accenture Japan, Graviton, Google, Flipkart, HiLabs, Microsoft, Navi, Mastercard, Deliveroo, Ola, Qualcomm, Bajaj and Analog Devices were among the 55 companies which visited and made 158 offers in Slot 0 and 1 of Day 1.Companies which came on Slot 2 of Day 1 and Slot 1 of Day 2 included Meesho, PhonePe, Palo Alto Networks, Schlumberger, Deutsche Bank, Tata Capital, Deloitte, BPCL among others, the institute said in a statement. An additional 152 offers were made by 57 companies in these two slots. There were 230 offers on Day 1 alone, Sushant K Shrivastava, coordinator, training and placement cell, IIT BHU told ET.The institute also received around 307 PPOs from 68 companies, including Oracle, Intuit, DE Shaw, American Express, NK Securities, ITC, Tata Steel, Reliance, Atlassian and P&G.

Packages offered to IIT-BHU students ranged between Rs 12.5 lakh and Rs 1.68 crore, the institute said.
